OLX made waves during the 2016 election season with its campaign, thoughtfully called “Halaga ng Boto Mo” in its attempt to raise consumer awareness against vote buying. Using the tagline “Ibenta mo na ang gamit mo, ‘wag lang ang boto mo,” OLX displayed digital and Out-Of-Home efforts to promote responsible voting. With an empowering message, these efforts have gone viral quickly, and bagged not one, but two gold trophies at the 2016 Araw Values Awards.
Together with their partner agency IDEASXMACHINA (IXM), OLX’s message aimed at encouraging Filipinos to value the real worth of their vote in a democratic society. It released online content to educate voters, including a Rappler-sponsored Twitter conversation, inspiring them to take a stand for clean and peaceful elections. This reached up to 16 million people on Facebook, and got over 400,000 views on Yaman. The campaign was also supported by offline efforts such as billboards and other out-of-home placements.
OLX is proud to receive the 2016 Araw Values Awards for both online and offline efforts, under the Commitment to Truth, Honesty & Integrity category. For OLX, the campaign served not only to make itself known as a buy and sell platform, but as an inspiration towards advocacies that it strongly believes in.
“This campaign has paved us to empower Filipinos through an advocacy that was very relevant during the election period. We felt that it was the right time to educate our audience through our platform to be more aware of social issues and carry on the value of integrity in their everyday lives,” said Jean Magboo, Brand Marketing Manager of OLX Philippines.
