What do you do when you’re overworked?

In the season of final exams, work presentations, and promotions, we sometimes find ourselves staring at our computer screens and test papers with zombie-fied eyes and pallid complexions.

When we suddenly realize we’re overworked, and probably have been for a while, it is time to do something about it. Whether a good girl’s night out session or just a 20-minute nap, everybody has their fatigue-busting routines.

Here are some answers to the question “what do you do when you’re overworked?”

I eat. To be specific, I think about one food I want to eat at the moment and go to eat that. – Stephen Kuo

I take a shower, sleep, and don’t do work. The point is I stay away from work and do activities to recharge. – King Filart

When I feel exhausted and overworked, I go back to my favorite movies and books. Nothing like a good and familiar story to relax away the stress. — Pat  Cendaña

I sleep, eat, stay at home. If I’m still busy I stay in a clean restroom cubicle for 10 or so minutes to avoid people for a while and rest. – Marian Pacunana

When I’m still working, I make sure to drink a glass of water every 30 minutes or so because I’d like to think that the walk to the kitchen clears my head and keeps me focused while I make sure to stay hydrated specially when I’m pulling an all-nighter. After working, I treat myself to some comfort food and binge watch on series that I need to catch up and also reward myself with lots of sleep. – Michelle Parlan

When I’m overworked I take short breaks to chat with people. Not necessarily pep talks, even small talk can ease a little bit of stress and get me moving again. – Janjan Mañibo

When I’m overworked, I try to click on a pause button on my teacher-mode self. One of the things I like doing is visiting my friend’s carrel to have a chat about our lives outside work. – Telly Mendoza

Eat. Sleep. I’m a stress-eater and I need enough time for rest, so eating and sleeping are what I turn to when overworked. Of course, I also manage by prioritizing and even complaining if needed. – Filbert Tiu
