What’s in a winning story? For some people, it’s about finding a good item for a nice price. Others get money out of the things they no longer use.
For Khrishia, mother of 2, it’s about reclaiming and passing on the joys of childhood. This is her winning story.
For 13 years, Khrishia searched for a certain book. It was the 1962 edition of book that she read when she was 5 years old. A fire in 1994 took away the book, depriving Khrishia of a precious thing from her childhood.
In 2007, Khrishia had been working in the BPO industry for almost a decade. Her friends introduced her to OLX. She was no stranger to the site. She had bought and sold various things through the platform.
One day, Khrishia found a deal that reunited her with the book. She bought the book from a fellow mother who happily parted ways with the book.
After getting the book, she read it to her eldest son who was 2 years old at the time. All the while, she relived her childhood.
For the next 2 years, Khrishia happily shared the book with her son who soon learned to read it for himself.
Calamity strikes again
In 2009, Typhoon Ondoy ravaged the Philippines, causing more than ₱11 billion in damage. Because of Ondoy, calamity took away Khrishia’s prized book for a second time.
Her son became very sad over losing the book. This is because her son practically grew up with the book.
However, it wasn’t long before Khrishia found another copy of the book on OLX. Because of this, her son became very much delighted.
“Mommy! Ito yung binabasa ko dati, ‘di ba?” Khrishia fondly recalls him saying.
After being reunited with her rare book twice, Khrishia is confident that those seeking hard-to-find things might just be able to find them on OLX.
Because of her experience, Khrishia encourages people to post on OLX so they too can find their winning story.
